When he died Matt's "spirit" became part of the Great Spirit that still roams the magical land where polar bears live with walrus, musk ox, caribou and seals. Some say that he still hunts with his old Eskimo* friends. Today Matt's grandchildren live in the same area where he and Peary made friends with the Eskimos 100 years ago.
